Political Conference Championships - One Week Away

The 2010 Super Bowl is now history, but within the political stadium the “Conference Championships” are fast approaching.  These will be played out over a period of two weeks, beginning February 16th, with the start of Early Voting.  On Tuesday, March 2, the conference champions from the “Republican and Democrat Conferences” will be determined.  Then the participants for the “Super Bowl of US Politics” will be set for November.

There is a very big difference between the NFL Super Bowl and the fight for the freedoms of our nation to be played out in the political arena.  The Saints and Colts worked hard for their chance to play a game that provides bragging rights, fame, and fortune.  Fans align behind a team based on a number of reasons, such as, uniform design, the most handsome quarterback, underdog status, sportscasters’ favorites, or a deep love for their hometown team.   But, we must remember football is a sport, and the Super Bowl is just a game.

It’s not a game within the political realm.  To choose the right nominees for the November ballot is critical to the future and survival of our nation.  Within Congressional District 29, Congressman Gene Green has turned against his own base.  Now is the time to select the Republican nominee for CD 29 who will be in position to replace liberal Green in the November general election.

Look for these qualities in your nominee to represent the Republican Party in Texas Congressional District 29:

  • 1. Honesty – Nominee does not make false or exaggerated claims related to his experience and qualifications.
    • a. When a candidate claims to be a nationally known expert on Homeland Security yet Officials from Homeland Security report they have never heard of this individual. His honesty should be questioned?
    • b. When a candidate claims to have raised $120,000, yet his FEC filings still indicate no funds raised over $5,000. His honesty should be questioned?
  • 2. Integrity – Nominee should not publish false impressions in an attempt to make himself appear as the chosen candidate by conservative leaders.
    • a. When a candidate continually uses pictures of himself with Republican Leadership on his publications, without their permission or support, his integrity comes into question, especially when that candidate uses pictures of individuals that have endorsed his opponent. His integrity should be questioned?
  • 3. Experience – Your nominee should have been involved in issues related to the position he is seeking to fill. He should have been very active in the community he wishes to represent.
    • a. Watching C-Span does not qualify as experience. His experience should be questioned?
    • b. Having run for 5 different offices in five years does not qualify as experience. His experience should be questioned?
    • c. Being funded by special interests does not qualify as experience. His experience should be questioned?
  • 4. Commitment - An individual should have the people’s support and a desire to serve.
    • a. One of the candidates in this race stated in a recent forum that he woke up after Obama was elected and decided to run. His commitment should be questioned?
    • b. Another stated he decided to run when a local businessman offered to help him raise the funds. His commitment should be questioned?
    • c. The two other candidates could not even explain why they were running. Their commitment should be questioned?
  • 5. Passion – Must have a passion to effect change with a willingness to fight for right. - Your Nominee should have a track record of fighting to retain our basic freedoms and be willing to sacrifice in order to do so.
    • a. Having accomplished just things that an individual is paid to do is not an indication that the individual will fight on your behalf. It could possibly be an indication that individual will only represent those that pay for his services. His passion should be questioned?
  • 6. Voluntary Activist – Your nominee should have been active in the community.
    • a. One candidate has stated he is qualified to run for this office after being paid to help in community services. Being paid for community service, or for that matter to run for an elected office, does not in any way indicate an individual’s desire to voluntarily serve that community. It only shows the willingness to accept money for performing a task.
    • b. Eric Story is the only candidate out of the 5 running for CD 29 who actually lives, works, and raises his family in the District. The remaining 4 candidates indicate by not living in the District that the people of the district are not important to them, they only want an elected office.
  • My name is Eric Story. I will make no claims while running for this office that I cannot back up with facts. I will never attempt to communicate an impression of personal traits that are not accurate. With anyone, at any time, I will be happy to discuss my community and political involvement, and my personal life experiences, related to my qualification for this position of Congressman from Congressional District 29. I decided to re-enter the race in District 29 only after the encouragement of roughly 1,000 citizens through conservative clubs, e-mails, phone calls, and Facebook. I did not just wake up one morning and decide to run. Neither did businessmen approach me with offers of providing funding. All who know me are aware of my impeccable reputation of honesty, integrity, and passion. I make this promise to you the voters of CD 29, I will not be controlled by special interests, or compromise my stance on issues important to the District, America and the American citizen. I have fought for your freedoms in Austin and have visited with our legislators in Washington, resulting in positive responses and votes in both cases. I have been very active across the region in a variety of activities benefiting those in need. Whether serving food to the hungry, making sure children had a gift for Christmas, working with homeless, drug addicts, runaways, etc, or riding with the Patriot Guard as we escort the bodies of our fallen heroes to their final resting place, I have spent much time volunteering within the community.
  • One candidate believes because he holds a Hispanic last name he is best qualified.
  • Trying to gain the support of the Hispanic community, another claims he is “Latino” in reference to his Italian last name.
  • My claim is simple; I am a Texan by birth, and a proud patriotic American always. I am the best-qualified candidate to represent the citizens of CD 29. I fully understand the seeming insurmountable issues of jobs lost, a poor and sagging economy, and high taxes that face the citizens of Congressional District 29. Most importantly, I have definite ideas and plans to solve these issues. I will be instrumental in bringing jobs to the District, improve the National economy, and lower the heavy tax burden for all citizens of the United States.
  • Vote for me, Eric Story, in the March 2nd Primary. Elect me, and together we will fight to return our Country to its citizens.
